What are the steps necessary for getting an SSL certificate from No-IP™?

There are 4 steps to the set-up process for your SSL certificate:

Step 1. Select your SSL Certificate.

No-IP™ offers 3 different versions of SSL certificates: Secure Link SSL Basic, Pro, and Wildcard. Please visit our SSL products page to choose the right product for you.

Step 2. Generate A Certificate Signing Request (CSR)

A Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is your web site's unique identifier from which your SSL certificate is created. A CSR is generated by the software platform used for your web site.

If you are hosting your own Web site, or using another hosting provider, you must contact your Web hosting Network Administrator and ask them to: 1. Generate a CSR for you 2. Identify the software platform and version of the web server. For detailed instructions, visit our CSR help pages.

Step 3. Authenticate Application Information

To ensure proper issuance of your SSL certificate, the following validation steps will take place:

A) We verify that the Account Holder Information provided in your application:
* Matches the registrant information in the WhoIs database.
* Corresponds with credible providers of business information such as Dun & Bradstreet, Articles of Incorporation, Business Licenses, etc. If any other documentation or information is required during this step, we will contact you.

B) We will also telephone your organization to confirm:
* An order was placed for your SSL certificate.
* The person who placed the order is authorized to do so.

Step 4. Issue Your SSL Certificate

Upon successful validation, your SSL certificate will be issued via e-mail to the address provided in your application information. Included in the email will be your certificates, installation instructions, and download instructions for your free Secure Site Seal.
